Let there be light

This is a papercraft kit from a book I had originally gotten 25 years ago and lost then ordered again.
It's taken me awhile to get back into my hobby work due to work, and my struggle with mental health. I have decided that working on these things will help me recover, as well as finishing what I have.

Pontifical Zouavres 1866

During the Italian Wars of Unification, the Papal states raised an armed force to defend itself from the fear of radicalism, or probably loss of revenue from lands lost.

Now, as a part of Canadian military history, the unit raised was recruited from Catholics in Lower Canada.

As such the unit has a very special place in the history of Quebec.

As the uniform is similar to what American civil war figures look like, I have been able to paint up a small section including an officer

The uniform is basically grey with red highlights. The headgear is a kipi.

So yet another unit to add to the table.

The Danish War 1864

I have another conflict that I can use my US Civil War figures in. So I may just pick up the Confederate forces soon as well.

Fenians on the march

So I decided to model a Fenian force based off of US Civil War Union infantry from Iraleri. I had thought of getting some Confederates but I choose Union troops as they seem to be the largest group of veterans who enlisted into the Fenian Brotherhood

Having potentially landed at Campebello Island, New Brunswick

2020 projects finishing 2019

Crimean actions to do
Nearly bought new ACW figures but I stopped myself as I really didn't want to get back into it
Riel Rebellion actions and should 1837 also pop up,
Between work, pandemics, I should be able to get some actions done this year

Going walkabout Down Under, 1788-1930

WI Issue 383 for September 2019 has an interesting article on frontier conflicts which involves Settlers vs Aborigines

I have enough figures to try and recreate with some imagination
More to follow
